BeiTaAd: malware para Android que se esconde en 238 aplicaciones de Play Store

El malware BeiTaAd para Android ha sido detectado en 238 aplicaciones disponibles en Google Play Store. Una vez instalado en tu smartphone, el malware te bombardeará con anuncios. Según algunos testimonios, el móvil infectado queda rápidamente inutilizado;

Lookout, una empresa estadounidense de seguridad informática, ha descubierto un adware llamado BeiTaAd/ en el código de 238 apps de Play Store. En total, las aplicaciones infectadas suman más de 440 millones de instalaciones. Según el informe de la firma, todos ellos proceden del mismo desarrollador CooTek, una empresa con sede en Shanghai.

Una vez instaladas en su smartphone o tableta, las aplicaciones funcionarán inicialmente con total normalidad. En un período de 24 horas a 14 días después de la instalación, los anuncios intrusivos comenzarán a aparecer en la pantalla de inicio, la pantalla de bloqueo o en medio de una conversación telefónica. Por si fuera poco, algunos anuncios vienen incluso con una banda sonora que se activa automáticamente de día o de noche. Según se informa, el complemento lleva más de 7 meses en funcionamiento.

Según algunos relatos transmitidos por Lookout, el smartphone infectado con BeiTaAd se vuelve rápidamente inutilizable/ ante la afluencia de anuncios. Como es lógico, el adware genera rápidamente importantes ingresos publicitarios para los hackers.

Obviamente, Lookout ha advertido a Google de la presencia del malware. La firma de Mountain View retiró rápidamente de su Play Store las aplicaciones mencionadas.
